What does your music say about you?

I know I already did a post for today, but I was just updating my playlist and was laughing at the selection of songs. What do all those songs say about me and what does your reaction to those songs say about you? I like music that I like for no other reason that I LIKE IT!!! I don't always go with the popular vote on what a 31 year old should like (enter Jonas Brothers). Some songs I like to rock out to, even if they are a little (or a lot) dirty (enter Katy Perry). I KNOW that's not a song I would sing in church, I don't care, I like it. What's the big deal about kissing a girl, I've kissed a lot of girls, I kissed Gina just a couple weeks ago, oh wait... she kissed me!!! Anyhow, my point with that song is, just by listening to that song isn't gonna turn me in to a lesbo, so what's the big deal? I like how songs can make you feel, happy, sad, giddy, lovey, naked, oh wait... sorry, but don't you want to strip when you listen to some songs? After Tonight, you know he wrote that song to get girls naked. Some people listen to music in secret because they are ashamed of what they are listening to... not me!!! If you don't like what I like, I don't care, as long as you like what YOU like!!! Music is a cool way to make connections with other people. When you check out someone's playlists and they have a song that you have, doesn't that make you like them more? Ahhhh, I feel better. Check out my playlist to see if you like me!!! :)

Peach Days!!!

Tomorrow starts Peach Days is Hurricane!!! We love this every year. Randy was born and raised in Hurricane and so was his mom. This celebration is so fun. It is a small town gathering in the center of town. If you live there, you go!!! We get to see a lot of people that we haven't seen for a while. Randy's mom has a booth that she sells craft and food stuff that she has done. She does all the hard work then lets me play "store" for the weekend. Peggy is also over the Peach Cook Off, so I get to help with that too. I have never lived there, but this weekend it makes me feel like I belong over there. I love it. I usually don't love parades, I only take my kids to build memories, but the Peach Days parade is the biggest in Washington County. The kids leave with a grocery sack full of candy each when it's all over. It's a pretty cool parade. It's a fun time and I'm so excited that it's finally here!!! Then on Monday is our annual Clyde reunion, this year is our (Jim's family) turn. We'll be playing Highland games, having a drink at the corner pub and lots of other Scottish themed activities. It's a great way to spend Labor Day weekend every year!!! HERE WE COME!!!

What are you thankful for?

"Don't complain that roses have thorns, be thankful thorns have roses!". That's always been one of my favorite quotes. It's from my middle school seminary teacher. Some recent things that have happened have got me thinking. What am I thankful for? I want to start a gratitude chain. If you have anything to be grateful for (we all do), I want you to put a comment on this post, and then start it on your blog. It's time we stop crying about the things that we DON'T have and start focusing on the things we DO!!! I'll start.... what am I thankful for? (In no particular order)

1-a husband that wants to kill me, but wont.
2-kids that make me laugh
3-Coca-cola
4-friends that love me unconditionally
5-Randy's job
6-family that loves me even more than my friends
7-the right to say whatever the hell I want to
8-parents that chose to adopt me, and even fight to adopt me
9-in -laws that raised a cool son for me to marry
10-the guidance that the Gospel gives me everyday

That's just the 1st 10 I thought of, I could go on but I wont. Let me see what you're thankful for. I am interested in what EVERYONE has to say. Even if you don't have a blog, leave a comment. Let's see what this does!!!

Don't pee on my Cheerios...

Or in front of my house for that matter. It's 5:30am, I'm explaining to Tyler that it's too early to wake up when I hear the Grizwald's in front of my house. LOUD doors, loud guys, weird looking guys. I have never seen them before so I watched them out the window when all of a sudden, one of them starts peeing in front of their car!!! In front of my house, there is a guy with his winkie out. Well, you know me, what do I do? That's right!!! I get my robe on to go yell at them. When I got to my door, he was STILL PEEING!!! I said, "please tell me you are not peeing in front of my house!", so he did, "I'm not" (urination still happening). So then I said something to the effect of, "You can leave now" (I'm pretty sure it was that nice). I'm totally bugged by idiots lately, so I called the police. They came looking for them and never found them. Don't worry, they'll come back for their car and I'm on it like a hawk!!! The good news for my neighbors is they all know that I don't put up with....pee, I guess!!! I'm totally old school when it comes to neighborhoods, no one will mess around here, I'LL GET EM!!! Wanna move in?

Say, "CHEEEEZZZEEEE"

Tonight I got to take pictures of my neighbor's daughter that is pregnant and due at the end of this month. I had so much fun. These are SOME of my favorites!!!

And the favorite song of the day is....

The Garden. It's second on my Blogger play list. I heard it on So You Think You Can Dance and totally got hooked!!! It was originally a folk song and they funked it up. I LOVE IT!!! Check it out and tell me what you think.

There's always a lesson to be learned...

Last night on our ride to Kolob, I learned some lessons and learned why some things I already knew, are important...

#1- Charlie horses in hips, right after getting on the bike... NOT GOOD. I remember you can pinch your upper lip to get rid of them, but I wasn't sure if that was is, so I was pinching everything. They went away.
#2- When it's 105 degrees out, riding a motorcycle isn't "cool".
#3- If I squeeze Randy with my legs, he slows down.
#4- On Randy's bike you have to lean to turn, if I look away from the turn, it's not so scary.
#5- Sit up on cattle guards.
#6- If it is sprinkling, put the face shield down.
#7- In the mountains, there are a lot of bugs. Bugs= pain... face shield down.
#8- Bullet bikes don't have padded seats for the passenger and my arse weighs about 50 lbs. too much.
#9- "Saddle sore" can refer to anything leather you ride on.
#10- When riding a bike, deer are the last things you want to see up close (Pete and Tyra almost hit one up Cedar canyon last week). I'm glad we only saw them from a distance.

Last night was a BLAST!!! My nephew and my husband are safe riders, they're not in it for the "race", they know they are playing with their lives if they're not cautious continually. That I am thankful for. Now, I totally have a new addiction. Randy's been wanting to go through Zion, now it's me that can't wait till it cools off a bit so we can!!! What do you like doing with your loved one? Have you ever done something you didn't think you'd like, did it for them and ended up loving it? That's what this was for me. I really just wanted to prove that I would ride that far with him. Everyone knows I don't like being called a chicken, now look where it's got me!!!

We're going on a ride!!!

Tonight we get to go on a motorcycle ride!!!! Yea, us!!! Randy has a work meeting in Kolob without the kids, so we're leaving them at Grandma and Grandpa Clyde's house and we're riding his bike. I'm pretty excited. My nephew, Pete (yes, the same Pete that helped us with our mud situation) is riding with us and maybe Mike that works with Randy (not on the same bike, Mike and his wife together, and Pete on his own bike). It should be a lot of fun. Of course my mother-in-law is nervous, that's her job. We have good helmets that we ALWAYS wear and Randy's a REALLY safe rider. So the only thing left is to HAVE FUN!!! What's not fun about hugging my husband for an hour up a canyon? His bike is NOT your grandpa's bike, I have to lay on him when I'm on it.... no complaints here!!! Wahoooo!!!

My new favorite song

So, anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE MUSIC. I love all kinds of music. I always have a song in my head, a favorite song and a favorite part to every song. I know it's a little much, but I love it!!! My new favorite song is Chicken Fried by Zac Brown. It's on my Blogger play list. When I hear it, I can't help dancing around. If you change the lyrics a little, like Coke instead of Beer, it's what I think about life right now. I have cool friends that love me, my family has figured out what to do with me and I think I am in the best place that I have ever been. Check out the song and see what I love about it.

Chicken Fried by The Zac Brown Band

You know I like my chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I was raised up beneath the shade of a Georgia pine
And that`s home you know
Sweet tea pecan pie and homemade wine
Where the peaches grow
And my house it`s not much to talk about
But it`s filled with love that`s grown in southern ground
And a little bit of chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

Well its funny how it`s the little things in life that mean the most
Not where you live or the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes
There`s no dollar sign on a piece of mind this I`ve come to know
So if you agree have a drink with me
Raise you glasses for a toast
To a little bit of chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

I thank god for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
The ones that give their lives so we don`t have to sacrifice
All the things we love
Like our chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

Splish splash & first day of school!!!

Last night we went swimming for Cambelle's birthday. "We" meant Cambelle's friends and their families, which happens to be our friends also. It works out nice. We had the McInnes family, the Carter family, Odin and Chuck, Amy and her girls, and grandma and grandpa Clyde. We were swimming and having a good time when Paul and Nephi showed up straight from work and decided to chat instead of swim. Anna didn't like that so she started spraying Nephi and the next thing I knew, Nephi had ditched his phone and shoes and was jumping in the pool, fully clothed!!! We were all laughing so hard and then laughed even more when he got out (see pics)!!! Needless to say, Paul put his suit on. I think he was afraid of Anna spraying him. We had a great time. The men decided to try diving through the tubes... Chuck could do it, Paul could do it, Randy... not so smooth. I do like the new look. I liked it so much, I tried it myself and ended up with Angie YANKING the tube off of me!!! There's nothing like diving into a tube, coming up to the surface and not finding the tube!!! Randy decorated Cambelle's cake, like usual. I love the cakes he decorates, he does a great job. We all had a fun time.

THEN, today was the first day of school!!! The kids were so excited except for Cambelle, she thought she was going to school too. She started out mad because she couldn't find one of her "school outfits", that's because I DIDN'T GET HER ONE!!! She insisted on pop tarts for her snack and a sippy with water so she wont be thirsty. She has a mind of her own and we are not to mess it up. The kids had a great day. Maddison is stoked for 3rd grade and Tyler was happy to eat in the lunch room. When they got home from school, we were 4 pages into 101 Dalmations book when Tyler fell asleep. Think is was a big day? Now what do I do with my time?

Happy 3rd birthday sweet Cambelle!!!

Today (Saturday) is Cambelle's 3rd birthday. She has been such a blessing in our lives. When I found out I was pregnant with her, I was NOT happy. I was worried about having another sick baby and wasn't wanting to have another any time soon. Funny how things happen.... thank goodness Anna talked me off of the cliff that day. In about the 6th month of pregnancy I finally came to terms that there was going to be a baby in our family. We never find out what we are having and I have to have c-sections so we chose Aug. 9th for the baby's birthday. It's my Grandpa Albrecht's birthday too. He died a few years ago and I miss him like crazy so I thought that would be a good memory on that day instead of sad. If the baby was a boy we would have named him Logan Craig after my grandpa, but she came out a girl, so we named her Cambelle after Randy's beloved Grandma and Grandpa Campbell. Hopefully she will grow up knowing how important her name is and wont hate us too bad. She is such a blessing that I never expected. She wins hearts over pretty quick, but don't make her mad. She has a temper and attitude of the red-headed Campbell family members. She wont ever be bullied, we'll say that!!! So her birthday started with the county fair parade, then we went to the fair for a while and she ended her day hanging with the Clyde's (heaven). How many kids get to go to a parade on their birthday? Cool, hau? I was thinking how different my childhood was from her's when I looked in my baby book and saw the entry for MY 3rd birthday (I wasn't adopted yet, so it's Tisha writing), "for my 3rd birthday I had Anna Brinkerhoff and Shauna Stucki over for lunch. Anna gave me a coloring book and crayons and Shauna gave me a Hot Wheels case.". I still have lunch with Anna on a regular basis and I still have the Hot Wheels case Shauna gave me. One thing that is the same is that Cambelle has a lot of people that love her, just like I did and still do. I hope she can have a good life and find a good counselor when she's older that will help fix the things that I have messed up on!!! Happy birthday Cambelle, even though you wont read this, I love you more than you know. You are exactly what our family needed!!!

Who likes mud?

So, look at the time of this post. You're asking yourself, "why is Hopie posting a blog at 1 in the morning?". The answer is because we just had a very funny night and I can't wait till morning. I called my friend, Chanieca to talk church stuff and when she answered, my common question is, "how are ya?", but her response was not common.... "we're stuck in a river out by Gunlock". Well, my instincts were if she is stuck, Randy surely can help get them out. Chanieca asked her husband, Jeff if he wanted Randy's help and he said yes. I was just thinking that it was getting dark (almost 9pm) and they had their kids with them, so we should get them un-stuck so their kids can get to bed. We threw our kids in the truck and whatever things we would need to help them (which we would later find out was not enough) i.e. tow rope, and gross shoes to get in the mud with, ect... Well, when we found them it didn't look too bad. Their Ranger (4wheeler for like 4 people) was stuck in the river, river meaning glorified stream. Jeff had his truck there that is just like Randy's truck but Randy's tires are a little more nobby (boy word). Jeff's truck almost got stuck trying to get the Ranger out, so Randy was being all careful going out to get the Ranger, when..... we got stuck!!!! By the way, I don't think Randy has EVER been stuck when he was the driver, at least not in this truck (7 years). Now the rescuers were needing to be rescued!!! What do we do now? After poor efforts to rip the truck out of the mud, I called Gina's husband, Mike. Even though they are going out of town for a reunion tomorrow (today) he agreed to come and pull us (all) out. I don't think it was convenient for him, but an ego stroker nonetheless. As we were waiting for Mike, I thought, "we should call Lloyd" (he's my nephew that has a cool jeep that pulls people out of stupid situations like this all the time). I just thought we could get some suggestions, instead he started laughing and said it sounded like a fun night for him!!! He would just have to get his jeep and come over (he lives in Hurricane), so it was going to be a while. Well, Mike gets there and being the hot dog he is... got stuck. He has a winch (different than a wench) on his Blazer, so he hooked it onto Jeff's truck (on dry dirt) and tried to pull himself out of the gooey mud. Guess what happened? It started pulling Jeff's truck into the mud!!! Uuuuuhhhhggggg..... I was laughing so hard my cheeks hurt. Mike got himself un-stuck, then got our truck un-stuck and right then Lloyd came to the rescue. Dun dun dun ddduuuunnnn.... just like a super hero, flying in to save the day. When he pulled up he saw Jeff and Chanieca's Ranger and started laughing. That made me feel nervous. My nephew has A LOT of experience with this stuff. He had Pete, my other nephew and Glenn, their dad with him also. Together they can do ANYTHING. Lloyd and Glenn are on the search and rescue team, so this is nothing for them. Lloyd drove PAST where we got stuck, INTO the river and plucked out the Ranger like it was nothing!!! I had so much fun laughing at everyone. Jeff and Chanieca were apologising for everyone coming out but I think it's cuz they don't know my nephews and brother-in-law or they would know that was FUN for them!!! So, thanks to the Moss family for getting stuck. Thanks to Mike for taking time out of his busy night to play superman and thanks to my family for being the studs they are with cool equipment and willingness to help out. It really was a fun night for all who participated!!! Now, I'm gonna try to go to sleep. If you ever get stuck somewhere, call me and I'll give you Lloyd's number!!!

IT'S FAIR TIME!!!

Ohhhhhh yyyeeeaaaaaa, it's that time of year again. Time to go out and see what REALLY lives in the same county as you do!!! This picture is of my mom and dad at the Clark Co. fair a couple years ago. There's a really funny story about it, but it's a family thing and I'm not explaining it on my blog. If you know about it, you're already laughing at the picture. I have always loved going to the fair. When I was growing up, Blanche and Brenda lived in Hurricane and that is where the fair was held, so I would go stay at Blanche's house and have fun all week. It's funny to look back on it now because Randy grew up in Hurricane and there WERE events year after year that we were both at and didn't know we would end up marrying each other!!! It's a good thing we didn't know each other then, we wouldn't have ever got together. That's happened a lot though our lives. It's weird. Back to the fair. I don't know what I like the best. The rides that are set up so scary that the thrill I get from them is wondering if they're gonna break when I'm pulling 3 G's or is my favorite the....

DEMOLITION DERBY? Nothing says "redneck" like watching cars crash into each other and actually enjoying it!!! We are such morons. Oh well, we like it and so do a lot of other people. Some times when I'm watching the derby, I feel like I just saw it on Bluff Street. Every year when we go to the derby we take the kids to Jim and Peggy's to play but this year is a little different. It's Cambelle's 3rd birthday on Saturday. When I asked my mother-in-law if it would be rude to ditch our daughter on her birthday for the derby, you should have seen the look on my sis-in-law's face.!!! It was pretty funny. I don't think Cambelle will hold it against us that we're going without her. We're having a swim party on Monday for her b-day and she's 3... what's funner than grandma's house? I think she'll be fine!!! Anyhow, watch out carnie workers, here we come!!!

Who's your mama?

Not me!!! And not today!!! Our kids are having a sleepover at grandma and grandpa Clyde's house tonight to celebrate the end of summer break. So, I called some of my friends and we're gonna go on a date WITHOUT ANY KIDS (which is a big deal concidering we have 10 all together)!!! Yippeee!!! The Carter's (Anna & Nephi) and the McInnes' (Paul & Heather) are some of our best friends and we get to go out tonight and have adult conversations (no Pokemon), I wont have to clean anyone's face after dinner (well, maybe Randy's), I will get to laugh a lot and just chill. Ahhhhh...... I need this so bad right now. It's gonna be a lot of fun. It's cool that I have friends that know all about me but like me anyway. I'm sure I'm not the easiest person to get along with (especially if you bug me), but there are certain friends that I have that will NEVER make me feel like that. The Carter's and the McInnes' are only four of those friends, there are a lot more that make me happy. Friends are different than family because my family HAS to put up with me, my friends on the other hand just continue to come back for some reason. I'm a pretty lucky girl.
