Redneck swimming pools!!!

So, in the dead of summer, 110 degrees here in the desert, the kids come up with their own kind of way to cool down!!! This is Tyler and his bestie, Connor. These plastic bins were down and they decided to make them their own, little swimming pools!!!

Days on end, these boys would sit in the bins and fill them with water from the hose. They would just pass the hose back and forth to each other to make the water in their own "pool" cool!!! haha!!! It made me smile so big when I saw them the first time and every time after that!!!

Isn't summer FUN? :)

Germs, anyone?

So, this week is just confirmation to me that I have a FAMILY. Cambelle and her friend collided at school, resulting in a REALLY fat lip and lose tooth for Cambelle. Maddison has had a tummy ache for about 24 hours now and after a restless night with Harper, she woke up with her eyes matted shut... PINK EYE!!! I guess you can't avoid this stuff, but DANG, I hate germs!!!

WE HAVE A BLEEDER!!!!!

Being on a blood thinner isn't fun. I know it's not a ton of Plavix and I know it's not FOREVER, but I will tell you, it STINKS!!!! Every night, we play, "name that bruise". Your guess is as good as mine about where most of them come from!!!

Anna (she's been on a HUGE blood thinner for about 11 years now) warned me that it's the small things that will kill me. Potato peelers, cheese graters, paper cuts, ect. Another thing I have learned is that a razor cut isn't just a cut, it's life or death!!! haha!!! I shaved in the shower one morning, got dressed and went into the kitchen to do dishes. I felt moisture on the floor, thought I had spilled water, went to wipe it up and realized that it was BLOOD!!!! A pool of blood on the kitchen floor from a teeny tiny razor cut!!! Nice, huh?

Another thing I have had to learn is not to bite my hangnails!!! It's never been a problem before, but now that I'm on a blood thinner, it could be the end of my life!!! I SWEAR!!! It's so dumb!!! One day I bit a hangnail and it bled for 6 hours and all the way through 5 band aids!!! A few days later, I went to bed with band aids on 5 different fingers from bleeding hangnails!!! I HATE IT!!!

But all in all, I guess it's for the best. I would rather bleed like this for a few months than get a blood clot in my heart from my surgery. It's just a new way of doing things, is all!!!

Be careful of sharp objects!!!!

9-11-11

10 years after the terrorist attacks of 9-11-01 and it feels like yesterday. I took this picture today at my house right before a huge rain storm. Our lives will never be the same since 9-11-01. My kids will never know the kind of America that I grew up in and I hate that. But, we are a stronger America. I hate that my nephew is over seas right now, fighting and sacrificing for ME. But I'm grateful that he and others WILL.

It may have been 10 years ago, but I will never forget. WE will never forget.

God bless America.

Happy 6 months HARPER!!!

Wow!!!! Can you believe it's been 6 months since we had Harper? I can't!!! At times, it feels like it has been an eternity and then, at other times, it feels like it's just skipped by!!!

She was not my easiest c-section. It was brutal. I was really tired (probably because I'm older than with the others and also the hole in my heart didn't help, either), in a lot of pain and did I mention TIRED? BUT, I will say that she has been so fun!!!

She has brought a light to our family that I adore!!! She is our new "favorite toy". Truly, we fight over who gets to hold/change/play with her!!! She is such a sweet, little blessing to our family!!!

Her personality is really shining through, already!!! When she's mad, let her be mad. She doesn't want to be comforted, just let her pitch a fit and then eventually she will get over it!!! She likes to babble, she can roll over, sit up really good and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Ok, that last one wasn't true, but she IS amazing!!!

Randy is pretty excited to see if Harper ends up getting his BLUE eyes!!! The other kids never had blue eyes this long, so we're excited to see if her eye color lasts!!!

I am so lucky to get to have her as my daughter. She is such a good baby. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for her!!! Happy 6 month birthday, Harper. We love you ohhhh so much!!
