My baby burrito!!!

Harper has not been sleeping. She turned one month yesterday and it's been a LONG month with no sleep. I have justified it by her being early and how many newborns sleep anyway? But when I say NO SLEEP, I'm not messing around. She was waking up at 11pm and staying up till 5 or 6am. NOT GOOD!!!! We tried everything we knew. All of our kids have liked to be swaddled, but not Harper. She also is anti-binkie and that is so foreign to us!!! She wont take one AT ALL!!!! Weird. Anyhow, I was putting her to sleep anywhere she would sleep and I would zonk out even talking on the phone to people. Yea, it's been bad.

Sleeping in any one's arms.

In the chair.

In my bed
(yes, she rolled onto her tummy by her self, so I sat there staring at her to make sure she was still breathing, but she was sleeping, so I was NOT waking her!!!).

On the couch with her face smashed up to the back (she also did that herself).

Well, a few nights ago, I decided that I was going to swaddle her whether she liked it or not. It's worked for the other kids and I was desperate, so she was going to learn to like it!!! Wrapped her up like a burrito and there was no turning back, she slept like a champ that night!!!! Only waking up every 2 hours to eat and then right back to sleep!!! Night #2, same!!! Night #3, SAME!!!!! I think we're on to something!!! I can't tell you how happy I am. I have really been trying to stay on top of my postpartum depression and it's almost impossible when there is no sleep happening, so this is really a good thing!!!!

Why do I second guess myself as a parent? How dumb!!! I'm just glad she's figured it out, for now at least!!!! Happy sleeping, y'all!!!

What a releif. I am glad she is sleeping. The 1st month of Hunters life was awful because he was starving and would cry and nurse all night long. It makes mommies and daddies life so much easier!!! Congrats on the sleep.

Cute Blog, Hope!!! I'm glad she's starting to sleep better for ya! There's nothing worse than an over-tired momma in a fragile sleep-less position being susceptible to PPDepression. I've been there, too! I had it really bad with my 4th baby. I'm so sorry!

For now, keep swaddling the heck out of her! ;) Sounds like a good trick to me! It's a good thing she's so darling, huh? She really is a beautiful baby!

Oh she is too precious! Love that sweet baby girl. I'm so sorry about the sleep deprivation! It's the worst!!! EVER!!! You can't even function when you are that tired. And I always get SO depressed because of it too. Hang in there! One month down! Things always get so much better for me around three months. Looks like you are making major head way with the swaddling.

Did I mention how precious she is!!??
